You were loved very much Danny.

A million times we needed you, a million times we cried.
If love only could have saved you, you never would have died....

I am very tired, and the internet is very slow.
I think I am going to sleep now.....

Daniel E Listenfelt

My Father-In-Law, Daniel, passed away from complications of his heart on Saturday, January 17, at 1:25 pm.

My wife, Danielle received a phone call on Friday that her father was not doing that well, and rushed over to the Landmark Hospital in Woonsockett. I went over Friday night. He was already on life support systems and his heart was very irregular.

They have a very large family. His 4 brothers, his sister, all their children, and family friends filled up the waiting area in front of the ICU. Most of them stayed way past midnight. We went for a quick nap at 8 am, and were called back by the hospital around noon. His condition progressively worsened. Then shortly after one pm, with his wife and daughter by his bedside, holding his hands, he slowly slipped away from us....
He was gone.
He saw his greatest darling, Danielle, living a life happier than ever, and was following our escapades through our blogs and emails.
When she went to the hospital on Friday afternoon, they were just about to sedate him to install the tube to help him breath. He could hardly move, but squeezed Danielle's hand, turned to her and said:
"I love you my little sweetheart"
Those we his last words...
We went back to his house, to get his last wishes, which he had written down, and then gathered at his sister Mary's house. The afternoon went on as any afternoon would go by where a loved one passes away
One of his brothers, Mark, plays in clubs, and he decided that he needed to go and play. We decided to join him at Sizzlers in Cumberland. It turned out to be a wonderful ode to him.
Mark Played the son "Daniel", and we all listened.. It was difficult not to cry.
There was a very emotional aura around us, while Mark was performing. We were both laughing and crying at the same time.

At the end, it was a celebration of life. A celebration of all the love and caring he had brought with him to this world.
He is in a happy place now. He was happy here, having fulfilled his goal in his life.
Today, we went to the funeral home to make the arrangements, and at some point in the day I will go back to Boston to pick up some clothes, and make arrangements for the dogs. At this point, Andrew has been great help in feeding the dogs and have them take out their aggression of being left alone by peeing on his pants.

I know that many friends in the Marina have offered to help, and we will get back to you f we decide to leave the dogs in the boat. Thank you very much.

The Funeral will probably be Thursday or Friday, Danielle will most likely be staying with her mother while I shuttle back and forth. Unfortunately my cell phone is dead, and the charger is in the boat.

Rest in peace Daniel, I promise you that I will take care of your daughter, and do my damnest to make sure that she is the happiest person in the world.

Pool Party, Haymarket trip and potluck

Well it was the weekend, and the Marina had a pool party scheduled. That meant a lot of pizza, a keg of beer, wine and other goodies. We spent pretty much most of the evening in the pool with beer in our hands

By the time we were done it was 3 am. As you can see in this representative picture, I don't remember much of the party once the keg was finished, and even if I did, I probably should not publish it :)

After recovering next day, (or at least attempting to) we ended up forming an impromptu group to go to Haymarket for our weekly shopping. It was fun to go out with the group. After the shopping, we all met at the Union Oyster House for some clam chowder and drinks (again)

It is only a 15 minute walk from Haymarket back to the marina, and we are starting to really enjoy this urban lifestyle and our friends.

And with heavy snow predicted, we ended up having and impromptu dinner at Jeff's boat to celebrate the snow and party some more.

It was planned great, and we enjoyed salad form our host Jeff, great soup from Andrew, rice and lamb stew from Marcy and Buzz, we brought chicken and rice, and Jeff and Kristi made great desert. So we ate drank, and chatted for a few hours. It feels like we have something going on with our group every night.

I must say that both Danielle and I are very happy for being part of this very good group. Everybody gets along great with each other. Both the girls and the guys created great friendships. This is starting to become the most fun we had in the winter at Constitution Marina.

Snow, Rain and Sleet

It is snowing, raining, sleeting and pretty much a miserable day.
So I decided to post one of the funny movies I made on Labor Day weekend 2006 as we were trying to get to Provincetown to meet up with our friends at the end of a 3 week vacation.

New Year's Eve 08

So, 2008 has come to an end. I try to shy away from posting my political opinions, but in may ways, I feel like many others. Good riddance 2008. Goodbye Bush. I wish that we had a system where politicians at the highest level could be held accountable for what they have done. But that is not going to happen. Bush's only punishment is going to be that he will have to live with himself knowing that he was the greatest failure the world has ever seen.
Cheney on the other hand will probably keep on in his ways. I just hope that somehow, when the public comes to a full realization of what these people have done, they will actually turn their backs on them. Not so much Bush, because I can't see his incompetence to be as bad as Cheney's manipulative behavior.

Anyway enough of that 09 is coming with a lot of hopes, and well wishes. Everybody is tired. A lot of hopes and dreams have been shattered with the financial crises, even ours. We all realize that we have to work more, and longer.

But Hey ! that is even more of a reason to start 09 with a blast. As usual, whenever something important is happening, we had a big snowstorm. We did go shopping in the snowstorm for provisions for the night and then to brunch at Sorrels, a local bakery.

We did buy all the usual party supplies including the mandatory bottles of champagne, which we knew was not going to get wasted.

I had to deal with the cold. What better way than a 300,000 BTU/ht flamethrower !
It must be a "Guy" thing, but I love having that thing around :) I can heat up the cockpit in 30 seconds !

Buzz, Marcy, and Joanne showed up around 7, and we watched TV, chatted and had a great evening. including many test runs with the PA system on Waterdancer

2 minutes before midnight Justin, Jenny, Dave and Christina showed up with some school friends of Christina, and we counted down .. of course on the PA.

(Click on Image below to see our album)

Eventually, Arvind, another dock neighbor, showed up to join the party.
Sometime, after 3 am, everything started to fade. I was told later that I had three 20-something year old girls sleeping in our bed, but I don't remember it !
So by 4 am, our last guests stumbled back to their own boat and we hit the hay, which was vacant at that point, not to wake up until late the next afternoon !
